1. Board Game Night

Instead of turning to yet another Netflix show – play some fun board games instead! You could go to the classics like Monopoly or try out one of the newer boardgames like Codenames. For even more fun, add a prize for the winner like not having to do any house chores for an entire week!

2. Family Potluck

If you don’t want to go through the work of hosting a dinner party, you can still enjoy a potluck at home. Have every family member be in charge of creating a specific dish. Then, unveil your delicious creations together for a casual potluck.

3. Spa Day

Who doesn’t love getting pampered? Bring the spa home to you this summer. Paint your nails, try a new make-up look, create your own face mask, experiment with a fun hairdo or simply indulge in a luxurious bubble bath.

4. Build a Fort

Make play time with your kids even more exciting by building a fort! You may find it brings out your inner child. To make your fort extra cozy, decorate with fairy lights and cover the bottom of your fort with lots of pillows and blankets.

5. Family Movie Night

Whether you decide to stream a new film or have a full-on Disney movie marathon, you can never go wrong with a family movie night. Make your event feel like a real theater experience by adding popcorn, candy and handing out pretend admission tickets.

Staying at home for days on end can feel monotonous at times. Spice things up by throwing a virtual party with friends. There are loads of online platforms, like Zoom, Skype or Google Hangouts, where you can easily video chat. Make it feel like an official event by sending out online invitations and scheduling it on your calendar.

9. Scavenger Hunt

Whether you’re five or 55, scavenger hunts are fun for all ages! They’re also a great way to spend an afternoon with the family. You could divide up into teams (parents vs kids) or have the kids compete against each other.

10. Read a Book

Find the coziest chair in your house, get comfortable and enjoy a good book this summer. It’s the best way to unwind for the day. If you’re not feeling motivated to read, start a virtual book club with loved ones. Not only will it keep you accountable, it’ll give you another event to look forward to while at home!

11. Try Out a New Recipe

Tired of eating the same thing every day? Spruce things up by trying out a totally new recipe. It may seem like a minor event – but it can add a lot of fun and variety to your routine. If cooking isn’t your thing, try a new baking recipe instead.

12. Karaoke Party

Sometimes we all need to blow off some steam. Why not belt some tunes to the likes of Beyoncé or Mariah Carey? Have a fun karaoke session this summer and get the entire family involved. You don’t even need a karaoke machine. Find a couple karaoke videos on YouTube and sing away!

13. Get Artsy

From coloring books to scrapbooking, there are plenty of ways to bring out your artistic side at home. Try out paint by numbers, sketching, calligraphy, puzzles, collaging or tie-dye. These types of artistic activities are also a great way to destress.

14. Gardening

If you’re feeling stifled at home, get outdoors and try gardening this summer. Revamp your existing garden or start a new one. If you don’t have a yard you can purchase a tiered rack and decorate it with smaller succulents and flowers for a compact indoor garden.
