Honoring Dan Weir

Daniel "Dan" Ray Weir

With great sadness, Weir's announces the passing of Daniel “Dan” Ray Weir from this life to eternity on Saturday, November 19, 2022. The firstborn son of founder J. Ray Weir & Bea Weir, Dan led Weir's Furniture Village honorably in many capacities before serving as the President from 1972 to 2003. In life, Dan valued his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, his family (his roles as husband, father and Poppa), and business – always striving to do his work unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23).

Because of Dan's vision, Weir's moved beyond our original store at 3219 Knox to expand to Plano. In many ways, Dan's guidance and steadfastness to biblical principles in business laid the foundation for Weir's to be where it is today – in four locations in the DFW Metroplex. Always a believer in people and their impact, Dan invested not just in furniture but in Weir's employees by showing genuine interest and commitment to their well-being, growth, professional gifts, and family strength. Personable and approachable, Dan made it a point to continually reflect the saying he coined, "At Weir's, the difference is people."

Dan is survived by his precious wife, Martha, three sons and their wives: Blake and Laura, Brad and Angela, and Brooks and Gretchen; 13 grandchildren (he was a one-of-a-kind Poppa) and 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Patsy Moore and her children and their spouses: Mark Moore and D’Ann, Amy Moore Fullerton and Bill, and Todd and Kristin Moore, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bea and J. Ray Weir, and his niece, Julie Ann Moore.
